<p>Bilieu est situé sur la rive orientale de <a href="../../../../articles/l/a/c/Lac_de_Paladru_bfd2.html" title="Lac de Paladru">lac de Paladru</a> à 10 km de Voiron, 7 km des Abrets.</p>

<p>Bilieu a été érigé en commune par distraction de la commune de <a href="../../../../articles/c/h/a/Charavines.html" title="Charavines">Charavines</a> (ordonnance royale du 19 juillet 1826).</p>

<li>Eglise romane remaniée?!! S'il y a eu une chapelle romane, bien peu peuvent situer son emplacement avec précision : peut-être vers le Petit Bilieu. L'église actuelle date de 1848,érigée grâce à une donation Charamel (la date est gravée sur une pierre au-dessus de la porte d'entrée. Une croix surmonte un soubassement de pierre qui rappelle les origines de cette charmante petite église, rénovée en 1991)</li>
<li>Points de vue : la Croix des Cochettes, à une altitude de 720 mètres d'où une fort belle vue va des monts du Lyonnais au Jura par temps clair et plonge sur le lac. Un bloc appelé pierre "<b>beau soleil</b>" ou "<b>Pierre de Libre Soleil</b>" (6 m de long sur 4,50 m de large et haut de 2 m) témoin de l'origine glaciaire du paysage se trouve un peu plus loin (15 minutes de montée sous bois), vers le sud-est à près de 835 m d'altitude.Avec l'exploitation forestière actuelle, une vue quasi panoramique s'offre sur le Vercors, le bassin de Rives, la Chartreuse et les Alpes.</li>
<li>On doit aussi évoquer les quelques majestueux châtaigniers plus que centenaires.</li>
